There are 7 difficulty levels in Eador. These levels affect following values:

  • Neutral armies' and enemy player guards' hit points (HP) - affects non-player armies and enemy player guards.
  • Experience requirements to gain levels (Heroes only)
  • Gold and Gem loot from battles.
  • Gold (gratuitous income and start value).
  • Gems (Crystals) (gratuitous income and start value).
  • Corruption is affected in 2 ways:
    1. Maximum corruption level (Corr Max) - this is the maximum% of income loss that may occur due to corruption.
    2. Minimum number of provinces. This is the number of provinces for which corruption begins to affect the economy.
    • Note: the corruption level at a given situation depend on 2 factors:
      • Player affiliation - evil Masters (negative Karma) have more problems with their mortal servants.
      • Races inhabiting conquered provinces - goblin and dwarven provinces are much more corrupt than other races while centaur provinces do not affect corruption at all. (see Corruption for details)
  • Game points modifier (points) - affects the final score for winning a shard.
  • The three lowest difficulty levels also provide a tip about your hero's chances against an enemy army (its accuracy is a contested matter, though)

AI difficulty level work in reverse. A beginner level AI has the penalties from an overlord difficulty level. If both the player and the AI have Expert difficulty level than they have the same bonuses and penalties.

The following table summarizes the bonuses and penalties of all difficulty levels.
